Buildings Project Update

Transition Stage

We are very pleased to be able to update you with the progress on our buildings project.

The two new meeting rooms are now nearing completion with just some final decorating and carpet fitting to be finished. This is an amazing achievement, and the guys from RV Dart have worked very hard to get ahead of schedule.

Work will soon be starting on the refurbishment of the kitchen, and extending the hall.  This means that we will be moving into the new rooms in the extension.

Before we move into the new rooms though, the whole building will be closed between Monday 12th – Friday 16th February (half term week) to allow for some demolition works to be completed safely.

There will be no access to anywhere in the church or hall during this time.

There is also a possibility that the closure may need to be extended into the following week, commencing Monday 19th February, for removal of the asbestos ceilings. We will of course notify you in advance as soon as we know if this is the case.

After the 12th February the front entrance into St. Gabriel’s will no longer be available as the building work is being carried out in the kitchen and hall.

A temporary screen will be erected to provide a corridor through to the fire escape entrance of the larger of the two meeting rooms – the one closest to the kitchen – and this will provide access for all groups. Also, there will be a screened corridor through the car park to allow pedestrian access to the new extension. For the safety of pedestrians from this time onwards there will be no parking at all available in what remains of the church car park. We ask that all church users park outside of the church grounds. All of this will be clearly signposted before we move over to the new rooms.

We are very happy to say that the building works are due to be completed in late April or early May when the new hall and kitchen are finished.

We very much appreciate your patience and understanding as we get towards the end of the build.

Thank you for your continued support of St. Gabriel’s Church.
